Meet Bhavna Bhatia Roszel
Bhavna Bhatia Roszel is a writer, storyteller, and second-generation Indian American with roots in India and a heart rooted in Virginia. Born and raised in the quiet hum of suburban life, Bhavna found her voice early—writing poems that were published before she even knew what it meant to be called an “author.”
Now, Bhavna lives in Leesburg with her husband, son, and two spirited dogs. Her words are shaped by the in-between—between cultures, between expectations, between who we were taught to be and who we become. Her writing explores identity, self-worth, family, and the often unspoken experiences of South Asian women in America.
For over a decade, Bhavna built a career in marketing and communications, using storytelling to connect people to ideas, brands, and each other. But she never stopped writing for herself. Her self-published debut, Is It Happening Now?, marks the beginning of her journey into long-form storytelling—and the continuation of a lifelong conversation with the page.
Now, The I in Indian, her debut work of fiction, is a love letter to dual identity—and to love itself. Intimate, bold, and rooted in truth, the novel explores what it means to be whole in a world that so often asks us to choose. It is her most personal story yet, drawn from lived experience, cultural tension, and the fierce hope that love—both self-love and romantic love—can be the thing that sets us free.
